All About Steve

The movie title was too irresistible to pass up. Some time ago, purely by accident, we began watching "steve" movies. It all started with Multiplicity with Michael Keaton when one of the "copies" takes on the name Steve instead of George. It was affirmed when we watched What's Up Doc? with Barbara Streisteid and she decides to call doctor in the movie, Steve. So, when All About Steve came out, it was a must-see. Doesn't hurt that Sandra Bullock is in the movie.

It was a pretty good movie with some funny parts and finished with a good message. Sandra Bullock's character was seriously quirky (with a bad hairdo and some awesome red boots), but ends up being lovable and drives home the message of the movie. Besides a few inappropriate jokes and actions, the movie was good and we liked it.

Billy Elliot

Billy Elliot We picked this movie up at the library after hearing Bill Cutrer quote from time to time: "Ballet is for poofs." After watching it, I hate to break it to him, but no where in the movie was that line quoted. The closest I could find was the line shown below.

Anyway, the movie was fairly funny, but was set in a difficult time, which was reflected in Billy's upbringing. His desire to dance was one of the few up-lifting aspects of the movie. The setting is Northern England during the longest miner's strike in British history, due to government involvement and essentially ended mining in England. It also earned it's R-rating with exhaustive use of the F-word. Rumor is that there is a PG-13 version available and would highly recommend that. Overall a good story and makes one want to speak with a British accent.

Inkheart

InkheartThis was a movie that we have wanted to see ever since we finished listening to the audiobook. The book Inkheart by Cornelia Funke was an enjoyable story (translated from German) and certainly made for some fun listening while we drove. Last Friday, we finally watched Inkheart with Landon & Laura Hatfield. Diana and I both enjoyed the movie and felt like it was fairly true to the book, even though they shortened the overall story, added some special effects and modifyed the ending. Overall, a great story with action, suspense and fun characters.

PS. This was the first movie I saw on Blu-Ray. Very Impressive! I got to get me one of those.

The First Post

Welcome to the Peterson Movie Blog! I (Steve) thought that it would be fun to have a blog listing the movies that we watch and post a few comments about them. The idea started with using a blog to keep track of books (coming soon!) and expanded to include movies. Enjoy!
